Lady Bears Put Away Parkers Chapel Early

WOODLAWN - Freshman Laci Rauls pitched a one hitter and Woodlawn cashed in on 13 Parkers Chapel walks as the Lady Bears throttled the Lady Trojans, 18-3, in an 8-2A conference game last Friday at Lady Bear Field. Woodlawn was able to avenge its lone league loss, 1-0, that it suffered to Parkers Chapel back on March 7 at Chapel. The Lady Bears took control of the game early as they scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first. Jaci Hoyt singled to start the frame before Kathryn Dixon drew a walk. Anna Fitzgibbon then doubled to drive in the first run before an error added another. Fitzgibbon then scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0 before the Lady Trojans recorded their first out. Four consecutive walks then plated three more runs before Hoyt brought another home on a fielder’s choice, making it 6-0. An error scored another run, another double by Fitzgibbon made it 9-0 and Fitzgibbon then scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-0. After Parkers Chapel scored all three of its runs in the third, Lillie Faye McWhorter singled in the bottom of the third and then scored on an error, making it 11-3. Woodlawn invoked the 15-run with two out in the fourth when the Lady Bears used six walks, singles by Kendall Tooke and Hoyt, and a line drive by Kendall Sanchez to score seven runs and end the game. Rauls gave up six walks to go with her one hit and struck out 11 over four innings inside the circle. Hoyt and Fitzgibbon both had two hits apiece as the Lady Bears needed just six hits to score 16 runs. McWhorter and Lilly White accounted for the other hits.
