RISON - Rison’s Carlese Johnson scored 10 points to ignite an 18-0 start by the Lady Wildcats last Thursday as they dominated the Hazen Lady Hornets, 54-14, in a non-conference game inside the Rison Gym.It was the Lady Wildcats’ fourth straight win as they improved to 5-2 overall.Johnson scored the first five points of the game to give Rison an early lead as the Lady Hornets struggled to get the ball past half court against a relentless Lady Wildcat defense. Taniya Miller’s pull-up jumper made it 18-0 before Hazen’s Melody Schlenker hit a basket with 44 seconds left in the opening period to finally get the Lady Hornets on the board.Johnson then hit the front end of two technical free throws to give Rison a 19-2 lead to close out the first.The onslaught continued in the second half as Chamira Crain and Teairra “Tee” Miller both scored five points apiece to push the Lady Wildcats’ lead to a 31-4 by halftime.Tee Miller had nine points in the third quarter and her basket about midway through the quarter made it 37-7, invoking the running clock for the rest of the game. Rison outscored Hazen 12-0 in the fourth quarter.TaNiya Miller led all scorers with 24 points while pulling in six rebounds and making six steals.
