PC Scores Late To Edge Lady Wildcats

PARKERS CHAPEL - Parkers Chapel scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase a one-run deficit as the Lady Trojans squeezed by the Rison Lady Wildcats, 10-9, in a hit-filled 8-2A conference game at Parkers Chapel. It was Rison's third consecutive loss as the Lady 'Cats fell to 6-9 overall and 2-8 in conference play. No lead was safe in this one as both teams saw three-run leads evaporate. Rison scored three runs in the top of the first as Layne Potter singled to start the game, and one out later, scored on Josey Edwards' double. After a pop up for the second out, Carlese Johnson smashed a triple to right making it 2-0 and she eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0. Parkers Chapel, however, came back to score six runs in the bottom of the first off a double, five singles, two walks and an error. Rison answered to regain the lead in the top of the second. Amelia Stewart walked to start the inning before Carlie Crain singled. Potter then doubled to drive in a run and Jade Keaton's fly ball scored another. Edwards then delivered an RBI double to tie the game before Breanna Taylor's double made it 7-6 Rison. The Lady Trojans used a couple of lead-off singles in the bottom of the second tie it back up but the Lady 'Cats went back up, 8-7, on Potter's RBI single in the third. Parkers Chapel had an RBI hit in the fifth to pull even again before Rison regained the lead, 9-8, on Stewart's RBI single in the top of the seventh. The Lady Trojans started the bottom of the seventh with backto-back singles before scoring two runs on a ground out to win the game, 10-9. Potter went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double while Edwards and Taylor had three hits apiece. Johnson had two hits while Stewart and Crain finished with one apiece.
