WOODLAWN - Spring Hill used its off week before last Friday night's South Conference clash with the Woodlawn Bears to tweak its offense a bit.
That tune-up paid off as the Bears from Hempstead County pulled away late for a 46-30 victory over the Bears from Cleveland County in a battle for the South's no. 3 seed at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.
By virtue of its win, Spring Hill will go into this week's state playoffs at the South's no. 3 seed to face Brinkley, the no. 2 seed from the North Conference. Woodlawn, meanwhile, fell to the no. 4 seed and will travel to Rector to face the Cougars, the no. 1 seed from the North Conference.
Woodlawn finished the regular season 3-3 in conference action and 5-4 overall. Spring Hill improved to 4-2 in league play and 6-3 overall.

Three Spring Hill players rushed for more than 100 yards: Terry Tipton had 168 yards on 24 carries, quarterback Levine McGuire had 129 on 11 attempts, and Zane Minton fin-ished with 120 yards on just five carries.
"Assignment football," Meyer said about defending Spring Hill's triple option. "It's hard to give (Woodlawn's starting defense) a look with the option game because I knew my scout team wasn't giving a good enough look for them (in practice).
"With the triple option, it's got to be assignment football," he said. "At times, we didn't play assignment football. Guys w...
