Strong Finish Lifts Hector to Win Over Bears in Tournament Finals

ROSE BUD - Hector hit a couple of big 3's and then had some unexpected help off the bench as the Wildcats broke the game open late for a 69-54 victory over the Woodlawn Bears in the championship game of the Rose Bud Tournament this past Saturday at Rose Bud.Woodlawn got off to a great start, leading 22-15 at the end of the first quarter before Hector battled back to take a 35-32 lead into halftime.The 'Cats were able to maintain that three-point cushion, 50-47, going into the final period when Bears Coach Logan Adair said Hector hit a couple of big 3's and then got some offensive production off of bench as well. The Wildcats won the fourth quarter, 19-7.Woodlawn fell to 11-6 overall with the loss while Hector improved to 10-2.The loss ruined another strong outing from Woodlawn junior Jude Roberts, who had 30 points. Garrett Weather followed with 22 points for the Bears. Woodlawn 54, Cam. Harmony Grove 28 ROSE BUD - A 21-0 first quarter by Woodlawn Bears put the game away early as they rolled to a 54-28 win over the Camden Harmony Grove Hornets in the semifinals of the Rose Bud Tournament on Friday.Woodlawn Coach Logan Adair said he pulled all his starters in the second quarter as his reserves played most of the second half as well. The Bears led 35-13 at the half.Garrett Weatherford paced the Woodlawn with 14 points followed by Jude Roberts with 10 and Jack Lephiew with seven. Cash Hargis had a 3-pointer for Woodlawn.Woodlawn 73, Nemo Vista 50 ROSE BUD - Jude Roberts scored 34 points as the Woodlawn Bears cruised to a 73-50 win over the Nemo Vista Red Hawks in the opening round of the Rose Bud Tournament last Thursday at Rose Bud.Woodlawn was up 16-9 by the end of the opening period before going up 32-20 at the break. Nemo Vista was down by 13 to start the fourth but the Bears finished strong to pull away for the 23-point victory. ...
