Woodlawn To Host Region 4 Baseball, Softball Tourneys

RISON - Woodlawn High School has been selected  by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) to host the Class 2A Region 4 baseball and softball tournaments.The AAA decided on the regional and state tournament sites for spring sports in all classifications during a meeting last Thursday in North Little Rock. Schools from across the state submitted bids to host the tournaments.Woodlawn and Horatio both submitted bids to host the Region 4 baseball tournament while Woodlawn, Horatio and Junction City submitted bids for the Region 4 softball tournament. Region 4 was previously labeled as the South Region. The regional pits the top four teams from the 7-2A against the top four from the  8-2A to determine which four teams will advance to the state tournament.Palestine-Wheatley was selected to host the Class 2A State Baseball and Softball Tournaments. Marshall had also submitted bids to host both state  tournaments.Other Class 2A regional and state tournament sites that impact Woodlawn’s spring sports includes Poyen hosting the Region 4 girls and boys basketball tournaments, and Cedar Ridge hosting the Class 2A state basketball tournament....
