Kingsland Woman Dies in Accident

RISON - Janet Gaddy, 61, of Kingsland, died last Friday evening, Jan. 20, in a two-car accident along Hwy. 167 in Grant County, Arkansas State Police reported.

Clogged Culverts Behind Washouts

RISON - County Judge Jimmy Cummings said the Cleveland County Road Department may have found the reason there were so many washouts along county roads during the heavy rain that hit parts of the county of Jan. 2: clogged culverts.

RISON - The Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Service will be offering the Extension Get Fit adult strenght training program beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on Hwy. 35 south of Rison.

Squirrel Hunt Benefiting Local Jakes Day is Jan. 28

RISON - The Cleveland County "Cutters and Strutters" Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will be conducting their annual fundraising event to help fund the chapter's "Jakes" Day. A competitive squirrel hunt will be conducted on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 28.

Rison 4-H Meeting Scheduled Jan.23

RISON - The Rison 4-H Community Club will be having an introductory program and enrollment meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Rison School Cafeteria, the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Office has announced.
