Primary Election To Be Held Tuesday

County Voters To Decide on County Judge, Sheriff in Republican Primary Election

RISON - Cleveland County voters will head to the polls this Tuesday, March 3, to elect a new county judge and a new sheriff.

Polling sites across the county will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Meanwhile, early voting continues from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. The final day for early voting will be Monday, Feb. 2, when the polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The polling locations, by voting precinct, for Tuesday’s primary election are as follows:

Bowman and Whiteville - Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 3833 Rodgers Road West, Pleasant Ridge community
Harper     - Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 14570 Hwy 35 South, Herbine community
Hudgin - New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 14060 Hwy 54, New Home community 
Hurricane - Union Methodist Church, 21230 Hwy 35 South, Rye community
Kingsland (Inside/Outside) and Saline  - Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church, 200 1st Street, Kingsland
Lee - Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church, 13600 Hwy. 189 South, New Edinburg 
Miller - Woodlawn Community Center, 6270 US Hwy. 63, Woodlawn community
Niven and Whiteoak - “Y” Community Center, 8000 Hwy 35 North, Staves community
Redland - New Edinburg Community Center, 6590 Hwy. 8, New Edinburg 
Rison (Inside/Outside) - Hall-Morgan Veteran’s Building (404 Sycamore, Rison, AR) 
Rowell    - Center Missionary Baptist Church, 12270 Hwy. 63,  Rowell community
Smith - Macedonia Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 7370 Hwy 35 South, Rison area
Stan Sadler, former publisher of the Herald and local historian, could not recall when both county judge and sheriff were up for election at the same time without an incumbent in either race. He estimated it has been at least 50 years.
