RISON - The Why Knots EHC Project Club honored Cleveland County Veterans Thursday for their profound duty, courage, personal sacrifice and dedication not only to their military branch, but to all American citizens. In recognition, the club presented a handmade quilt to the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building to be displayed.
"This quilt serves as a symbolic gesture of our enduring gratitude and respect for the service and sacrifices of our Veterans," said Sarah Mitchell. "It is a small token of our appreciation, intended to remind all who see it of the unity, courage and honor displayed by our community's Veterans."
Mitchell said the late Owen Rushing, one of the county's Quorum Court members, approached the Why Knots Club about making a patriotic quilt, but sadly the club did not complete it before Rushing's passing in December. The club would like to issue a special thank you to Treill Meeks, Richard Meeks and Barbara Cox for the design and quilting of the quilt. The Why Knots felt it was an honor to be asked to make this quilt for the Veterans.
