RISON - Lt. Gov. Leslie Rutledge addresses about 250 supporters of District 1 State Senate candidate Harrell Wilson of the Staves community during a campaign rally held at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds last Thursday in Rison. Rutledge, along with Gov. Sarah Sanders and Attorney General Tim Griffin, have endorsed Wilson in the special Republican primary race to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of former District 1 State Senator Ben Gilmore of Crossett. Wilson faces Missy Wardlaw of Hermitage in the Republican special primary set for Aug. 18. The winner will face Democrat Tomeka Butler, the mayor of Eudora, in the Nov. 3 special election.
