RISON - More than 70 people showed up to the Cleveland County Library Tuesday evening to honor Dr. Mark Attwood of Rison (standing, far right) at a reception hosted by Dr. Sam Taggart (standing left), author of 'Country Doctors of Arkansas.'
Dr. Taggart has been making his way around the state hosting receptions to highlight the work of the doctors featured in his book.
For Dr. Attwood's event in Rison, dozens of people filled the chairs, aisles and the lobby of the library to share stories of how the beloved doctor touched their lives as a coworker, a mentor to doctors he teaches, and most importantly as a physician going above and beyond the call of duty for patients. Lynn Wilson, pharmacist and owner of Rison Pharmacy, complimented Dr. Attwood's diligence and guidance steering the county through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Attwood and his wife Debi were overwhelmed by the turnout, expressing their gratitude to everyone who attended. Dr. Taggart noted this response is something he's witnessed all over the state. 'Everyone loves their country doctor,' he said.
Dr. Taggart's book also features other Cleveland County doctors including Dr. Calvin Stanfield, Dr. William Burnett, Dr. Henry Davis Sadler, Dr. Thomas H. Ackerman and Dr. George Ackerman.
