RISON - The Cleveland County School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, to select someone to fill the unexpired term of Zone 6 representative Tony White, Superintendent Davy King has announced.
White resigned from the position in September, citing health reasons. He had missed several meetings over the past year after having surgery.
King said two candidates submitted their names to fill the vacancy during the 30-day application period. Candidates must be registered voters and residents of Zone 6, which covers an area inside Rison and roughly east/northeast of town.
Whoever is selected will complete the remainder of White’s term. According to Cleveland County Election Coordinator Billy Bowlin, White’s seat is up for election in 2030.
