RISON - Carmen Martinez, pictured above, lays brick for the base that will support a plaque recognizing the late Danny Jacks of Rowell at the Cleveland County Veterans Park in Rison. Martinez completed the base last Wednesday, April 19. The Cleveland County Veterans Association announced this week that it will host a special unveiling ceremony of the new statue and plaque at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Veterans Park in Rison. Jacks was the state's most highly decorated Army Ranger during the Vietnam war, receiving the Silver Star among his many other medals. Jacks was inducted in the Army Ranger Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Ga., as well as the Arkansas Military Hall of Fame located inside the state capitol at Little Rock. During the ceremony, additional plaques will be unveiled honoring Veterans from the county. For information on placing a Veteran’s name on the plaques, click here.
