New Trash Cans Being Delivered For New Service

Body

RISON - Cleveland County will be entering into a new solid waste contract with Big Smith Waste, Inc. beginning Jan. 1, 2023.

While new trash cans are currently being delivered to residents throughout the county, the Cleveland County Treasurer's office, which oversees the county's solid waste contract, said the new cans should not be set out for roadside pickup until the first week of January when the new contract officially begins. Trash in Big Smith containers will not be picked up until January.

Throughout the month of December, residents must continue to use the trash cans provided by the county's current solid waste contractor, Get Ride of It, Inc.

After Get Rid of It's last trash pickup in December, the cans currently being used will be removed by Get Rid of It. Residents are asked to bring ALL their old cans to the roadside for pickup.

The treasurer's office announced that route days for residents living outside Rison in the county will not change when Big Smith takes over the routes in January. However, the route day for residents within the city of Rison will change from Tuesday to Friday the first week in January.
