PINE BLUFF - It’s almost time to enter your Individual Educational Home Economics and Horticulture Exhibits in the 87th Southeast Arkansas District Fair in Pine Bluff.
“Your hard work canning, crafting, sewing, baking, watering plants, etc., can pay off with ribbons and prize money. Last year one SEARK resident took home over $900 for her fair entries”, said Mary Ann Kizer, Home Economics Department Advisor for the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Office.
Jefferson County Extension Homemakers and Master Gardeners will accept Home Ec and Hort exhibits on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Hestand Stadium Fairgrounds, 420 North Blake Street in Pine Bluff.
Residents from 17 Southeast Arkansas counties are eligible to enter the SEARK District Fair. Counties include Cleveland, Arkansas, Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Grant, Jefferson, Lincoln, Lonoke, Ouachita, Prairie, and Pulaski County.
People can bring their District Fair items to Pine Bluff without entering or winning at a county fair.
Grand Prize winners will receive additional prize money including $100 for adults, $75 for juniors - and $50 for youth. The prizes are sponsored by Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotion.
Categories include: Youth (12 years and under), Junior (13 to 18 years) and Adult (19 years and up). Kizer reminds clients to save time by completing entry forms and entry tags before coming to the fairgrounds. Contact your local Extension office for entry forms and tags.
Photographers are reminded that photography entries must be 8” x 10” and matted within an 11” x 14” mat. They must have a stiff backing no thicker than mat board. Photography does not accept frames or glass.
