Tank Dedication Ceremony Set For Saturday at Park

RISON - A ceremony dedicating the M60 Army Tank that has been placed on permanent display at Cleveland County Veterans Park in Rison will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the park, Rison Mayor Charles Roberts has announced.

The tank had previously been on display at an American Legion Post in Hamburg but was moved to Rison on Sept. 19. The tank is on loan to the City of Rison from the  U.S. Army Static Display Program.

Randy Morgan of the Cleveland County Veterans Association, who helped organize the transfer of the tank, wished to thank all the following individuals who helped make the tank move to Rison possible. He made special mention of the late John Blanchard, who had the original vision of placing a tank at the park: Christopher Parent and Rebecca Codyniecki of the U.S. Army TACOM, Rison Mayor Charles Roberts, Frank Wilson, James Wilson, Jeff Wilson, Brad Wilson, Harrell Wilson, State Rep.
