Woodlawn survived a wild season opener Friday night, holding off South Side-Bee Branch, 66-62, in a game featuring more than 1,000 yards of offense. The Bears rallied after falling behind 62-58 late in the fourth quarter, regaining the lead on Parker Arnold’s six-yard touchdown run with 2:57 remaining. Arnold then sealed the victory with an interception at the Woodlawn 3-yard line. Despite losing three fumbles, the Bears totaled 536 yards, including 392 rushing. Griffin Manes led all rushers with 247 yards and three touchdowns, while Arnold threw for 144 yards and three scores. South Side finished with 539 total yards and three 100-yard rushers.
