RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court approved a resolution during a special meeting last Thursday, Aug. 20, giving County Judge Don Triplett permission to pursue a grant through the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to pave more than a mile of Broughton Road in the New Edinburg area.
Pastor Jerome Sledge of Sweet Union Church of God in Christ, which is located on Broughton Road off Hwy. 8, addressed the quorum court about the road during its July meeting.
Triplett said there is no guarantee the county will get the grant, but he was submitting it hopes to possibly paving one-and-1/8th mile of Broughton Road. If awarded, he said the county would be responsible for 20 to 25 percent of the cost.
