Wildcats Open Conference Play With 40-24 Win Over Central

The Rison Wildcats used some big plays to built a three-score lead and then held off a late charge by the Helena-West Helena Central Cougars to come away with a 40-24 win to open 8-3A conference play Friday night at West Helena. The Cougars moved into two scores early in the fourth quarter off a double-pass that resulted in a 75-yard touchdown play. But Rison came up with a fourth-day sack to turn back the rally. Kyson Walker rushed for 130 yards and had a 75-yard touchdown run in the win. Quarterback Logan McGarity had touchdown runs of 11 and 33 yards. The ‘Cats are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play after the win.
