Imogene Perrine

Body

Imogene Jones Perrine, 95, of Pine Bluff, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at her home.

Born July 25, 1929 at Sheridan, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Jones and Stella Mae Lincoln Jones. Mrs. Perrine spent her early years in Forrest City, AR.

According to her family, “Granny wore many hats. She had worked as a housekeeper, in an apple orchard, was a salesperson in a dress shop, taught knitting classes at Sears, and also taught exercise classes at Elaine Powers Women’s Gym.”

Mrs. Perrine was a member of First Methodist Church of Pine Bluff, where she volunteered by answering the phone and was a member of the women of the church. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion.

She loved crafting and made Christmas ornaments for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In the 1990’s, she joined the Pine Bluff Quilt Guild and later joined the Quilts of Valor, making several quilts as gifts to veterans. In recent years, she and her friends at Trinity Village (who call themselves the “Trinity Troopers”) crocheted blankets for those affected by the war in Ukraine. She and her friends also organized a quilt raffle to raise money to remodel the bathrooms in the Trinity Village lodge.

Technology never got the best of her. She loved making cards on her computer for all birthdays and anniversaries for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with all their spouses. She continued this up until this year, and decided, in her 95th year that she would just text them.

She married Eugene B. Perrine on January 1, 1973 at Sheridan. They shared many happy years together until his death on March 25, 2011. Two sons, Chuck Gray and Jerry Gray also preceded her in death, along with her siblings, Buford Jones, Buck Jones, Louise Tracey, and Chester Jones.

Survivors include her children, Floyd Dwain Gray (Mary), Pam Woolley (Robert), Robert Perrine, and Jim Perrine (Clara); a daughter-in-law, Mary Gray; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Dr. Don W. Woolley and Rev. Carlton Cross officiating.

Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery in Cleveland County.

Memorials may be made to Quad W Missional Outreach, 6333 Piccadilly Square Dr., Mobile, AL 36609.
