RISON - The Rison Junior Wildcats suffered a 36-12 loss to the McGehee Junior Owls last Thursday in an 8-3A conference game at the George Walker Field of Champions. The Junior ‘Cats fell to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the loss.After a scoreless first quarter the Owls got on the board first on a 9-yard quarterback keeper by Max Taylor with 5:53 remaining until halftime. Taylor attempted to run in the two-point conversion, but was stopped short by Rison’ Rowdy Phillips and Dylan Berg.The Wildcats answered on the next passion with a 17-yard pass from Logan McGarity to Isaiah Hamilton with 3:45 remaining in the first half. A failed two-point try would keep the game tied at 6-6.McGehee answered the Cats score just two plays later with a 64-yard run by Reggie Jackson with 3:14 remaining in the first half. The Owls were able to convert the two-point try to take a 14-6 lead.Rison scored their second touchdown of the night with 1:01 remaining in the half on a 10-yard run by Payne Prescott. A failed two-point try left McGehee with a 14-12 lead.The Owls were able to extend their lead before halftime with a 30-yard pass from Taylor to Jackson with 22.9 seconds remaining in the half. Another successful two-point try gave the Owls a 22-12 lead through halftime.Two more scores in the second half by the Owls would give McGehee the 36-12 victory....
