Junior Wildcats Fall In Season Finale to Fordyce

RISON - The Rison Junior Wildcats suffered a 38-8 loss to Fordyce to end the 2024 season Thursday night at George Walker Field of Champions.The Junior ‘Cats received the opening kickoff, but went 3-and-out to open the game. Fordyce scored two plays later on a 62-yard run with 3:18 remaining in the opening quarter. A successful two-point conversion gave the Junior Redbugs the 8-0 advantage.The Wildcats couldn’t get anything going on their second possession of the game, forcing a punt at the beginning of the second quarter. The Junior ‘Bugs scored their second touchdown of the night on a 45-yard run with 1:40 remaining in the first half. A host of Wildcats stopped the Bugs short on the two-point try, giving Fordyce the 14-0 advantage.A Wildcat fumble on the next possession would give the ball back to Fordyce at the 50-yard line with 23 seconds remaining in the first half. The Junior Redbugs had a touchdown saving tackle by Rowdy Phillips with 12.3 seconds remaining in the first half, followed by a quarterback sack by M.J. Chambers as time expired.Rison would attempt an onside kick to open the second half, however, a Fordyce recovery lead to a 39-yard touchdown two plays later. A successful two-point conversion gave the Junior ‘Bugs  a 22-0 advantage with 6:09 remaining in the third quarter.Fordyce then recovered an additional onside kick, leading to another scoring drive and successful two-point conversion for the Junior Redbugs with 21.3 remaining in the third quarter.The Wildcats went four-and-out on the ensuing possession, leading to a 30-yard touchdown for Fordyce two plays later. A successful two-point try gave the Junior ‘Bugs the 38-0 lead.Rison scored its only touchdown of the night with 22 seconds remaining in the game on a 12-yard run by Deion Jones.
