RISON - Christian Reeves scored 27 points as the Rison Wildcats overcame a five-point halftime deficit to knock off the Helena Cougars, 63-56, in an 8-3A conference game last Friday inside the Rison Gym.Helena hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Cougars went up 22-15 by the end of the opening period. The Wildcats were able to shave it to 32-27 by the half.Rison had its best quarter of the game in the third as the ‘Cats hit 6-of-8 free throws in outscoring Helena, 19-9, to take a 46-41 lead into the final frame.Christian Reeves was an offensive force for the Wildcats throughout the game, scoring seven points in both the first and second quarters while adding 13 in the second half to finish with 27.Chandler Reeves finished strong to score 16 overall while Kyson Walker had 11.Rison moved to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the win.DeWitt 47, Rison 41DEWITT - Rison used the final three quarters to chip away at a 17-point deficit after the first quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome the DeWitt Dragons as the Wildcats fell 47-41 in an 8-3A conference game last Thursday at DeWitt.The ‘Cats were slow coming out of the gate as the Dragons drained three 3-pointers in the opening frame to open up a 20-3 lead by the start of the second quarter. Chandler Reeves gave the Rison offense some spark in the second as his nine points helped the Wildcats keep pace with DeWitt to go into halftime down 35-19.The Dragons cooled considerably in the second half, scoring just 10 points over the final two quarters. Rison cut it to 41-29 by the end of the third quarter before Christian Reeves scored 12 in the final period to eventually falling by a six-point deficit.Christian Reeves ended up leading the ‘Cats with 17 points while Chandler Reeves and Kyson Walker had 10 apiece....
