WOODLAWN - Woodlawn made 12 3-pointers, including nine in the first half, as the Lady Bears bombed the Magnet Cove Lady Panters, 64-40, for their sixth consecutive 8-2A victory Tuesday night inside the Woodlawn Gym.The barrage started early as the Lady Bears hits four in the first quarter before adding five more in the second. Kelsi Mack, Kathryn Dixon and Jaci Hoyt each had three apiece over the first two quarters. Mack banked one in just before the buzzer to give Woodlawn a 35-24 lead.Hoyt started the third quarter with yet another 3 before hitting a free throw on a made basket, and Addison Holland’s bucket suddenly swelled the Lady Bears’ lead to 43-24.Magnet Cove did not score in the third as Woodlawn went up by 45-24 by the start of the fourth quarter.Hoyt stayed hot throughout the game, scoring in every quarter to finish up with a game-high 30 that included five 3’s. Dixon had 15 while Mack finished with nine.The win put Woodlawn into a three-way battle with Magnet Cove and Junction City for third place in the 8-2A standings. All three teams had four conference losses following Tuesday night’s action.The Lady Bears moved to 14-11 overall and 7-4 in league play with the win.Woodlawn Coach Synthia English said she felt the recent turnaround can be traced back to the team finally starting to put it together.“We’re playing a little bit more up-tempo, sharing the ball with everybody, having more than three girls score in double figures every night… getting really after it defensively.
