WOODLAWN - Coach Logan Adair said he hopes a little time after a disastrous close to the regular season can give his Woodlawn Bears time to regain their bearings as they head into the District 8-2A Tournament this week at Parkers Chapel. On Feb. 6, Woodlawn was looking to battle Junction City for the no. 2 seed in the conference after the Bears had survived Parkers Chapel, 52-45, two nights before despite having just eight players available following an outbreak of illness among the players.Matters got worst for the Junction City game as three starters, including leading scorer Jude Roberts, were out as well as several key reserves . "I felt like we had nothing left, no energy to mount a comeback," Adair said.Ouachita, which finished behind Woodlawn in the final 82A standings, won the game 73-37. Jake Allred led the Bears with 17 points. Roberts played just 7 minutes in the game as he was continuing to recover from his illness.Things didn't get much better in the regular season finale last Friday night at Hampton. After Woodlawn finished the opening period with a 13-12 lead, Hampton came back with a 23-point second quarter to go up 35-23 at halftime. The Bulldogs added 25 more in the third to push their lead to 60-38 by the start of the fourth quarter.Adair said Roberts and the Bears' second-leading scorer, Garrett ...
