Mother Delphia Scott Shields, 90, of Rison was called to her eternal home February 19, 2025.

She was born November 16, 1934 to the late Columbus and Ora Scott of Rison, Arkansas.

Mother Delphia accepted Christ as a teenager. Delphia was a mother and member of Tates Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Frank Phillips. She served faithfully at Tates Temple until her health failed.

Mother Delphia graduated from Lanwood High School in Rison. She worked at Rison Garment Factory and Rison Nursing Home for a number of years. Mother Shields was a kind-hearted and loving Saint of God. She was very instrumental and anointed in playing the guitar and had healing hands. Mother Sheilds believed in the power of prayer.

Mother Delphia was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Sheilds, Sr.; a daughter, Barbara Shields; parents, Columbus and Ora Scott; siblings, Reba Richardson, J.C. Scott, Versie Brandon, Marvin Scott, Ernest Scott, Jenny Belle Scott Walker, and Leroy Scott.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Beverly Oliver of Seattle, Washington; Wallace Shields, Jr. (Annette) of Rison; Joel Sheilds (Alma) of Maple Valley, Washington; Tina Shields of Kent, Washington; Eric Shields of Federal Way, Washington; Brett Shields of Vancouver, Washington; Bruce Shields (Renee) of Federal Way, Washington; 15 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Mother Shields had a special grandson, that she nicknamed Corey Head. Corey lived with his grandma for a number of years and took good care of her, including cooking and running errands on his moped. Corey met the needs of his grandmother as long as he could in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Tate Temple Church of God in Christ at Rison.
