RISON - The Rison Junior Wildcats opened 8-3A conference play in dominant fashion last Thursday night, rolling to a 32-8 victory over the Barton Junior Bears at George Walker Field of Champions.Rison wasted no time setting the tone. On the first snap of the game, MJ Chambers recorded a three-yard tackle for loss. One play later, Barton fumbled, and Chambers pounced on the loose ball to give the Junior Wildcats possession at the 15-yard line.From there, Payne Prescott ripped off a 10-yard run to the 5, and Deion Jones punched it in on the next play. Prescott added the two-point conversion to make it 8-0 with 5:54 left in the first quarter.The Wildcats struck again just 30 seconds later when Weston Phillips scooped up another Junior Bear fumble and raced 15 yards for a touchdown. Michael Kennah tacked on the two-point run to stretch the lead to 16-0.Rison kept the pressure on defensively. After forcing a threeand-out, the Junior ats put together a promising seven-play drive before a fumble through the end zone gave Barton a touchback. But the defense came right back, with Dylan Berg recovering the third fumble of the half. That set up Logan McGarity's 29-yard touchdown strike to Prescott with 3:05 before halftime. Bryant Branch added the conversion for a 24-0 lead.Just before halftime, Rison capitalized on a Barton personal foul and capped a four-play drive with a two-yard touchdown run from Kennah. Branch ran in his second two-point conversion of the night, and the Wildcats took a commanding 32-0 lead into the break.With Barton requesting a running clock in the second half, scoring slowed. The Bears managed a 22-yard touchdown run with 3:58 left, adding a two-point conversion to avoid the shutout. But Rison ran out the clock to seal the 32-8 win.Prescott led the Wildcats' balanced attack with four carries for 41 yards and two receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown.
