RISON - Rison rising junior pitcher/infielder Noah Matheson has announced his commitment to Texas A&MTexarkana after receiving multiple scholarship offers following a breakout sophomore season.Matheson earned All-State, All-Conference, and All-Arkansas Preps Underclassmen honors this spring while helping lead the Wildcats to the 8-3A Conference Championship-the program's first league title in 21 years.On the mound, Matheson was dominant, throwing 41.2 innings while allowing just 19 hits and six earned runs, striking out 54 batters and posting a 1.008 ERA. At the plate, he hit .326 with five doubles, a triple, and 13 RBIs.His strong summer carried over as well. Matheson was recognized by Perfect Game as a Top Performer at a five-day tour-nament in Tomball, Texas, while competing with the Baseball Portal 16U National Team. He ranked 8th out of 100 players in RBIs with four, while also batting .500 with a .667 on-base percentage, placing him among the tournament's top 30 hitters in OBP.Matheson also ranked third overall with three doubles, finished 11th in slugging percentage (1.000), 28th in OPS (1.700), and 34th overall in combined hitting stats for the event.Texas A&MTexarkana, currently an NAIA program, is transitioning to NCAA Division II to compete in the Lone Star Conference.
