WOODLAWN - Jude Roberts scored a school record 53 points as the Woodlawn Bears pulled away in the second half for a 78-62 win over the Bearden Bears in a non-conference clash last Thursday at the Woodlawn gym.Roberts’ 53 breaks the school record of 50 points set by Mike Stewart before the 3-point line was implemented.Woodlawn trailed by double-digits early before Roberts sparked a first-quarter rally that had the two teams tied 22-22 after a high-scoring opening period. Woodlawn was able to pull out to a 43-37 lead by halftime.The Bears continued to extend that lead in the third, going in the final period with a 65-50 advantage. Bearden, however, cut it to a nine-point deficit before Cash Hargis drilled a big 3-pointer that turned back the rally.Roberts was on fire from both inside and out. He hit 18-of-28 field goals to shoot 64 percent from the field while draining 6-of-10 from 3-point land for 60 percent. He was 8-of-14 at the free throw line....
