Lady Bears Pull Off 7th Inning Wins Against Carlisle, Ouachita

WOODLAWN - Kendall Tooke scored off an error on Laci Rauls’ single in the bottom of the seventh give the Woodlawn Lady Bears an 8-7 win over the Carlisle Lady Bison in a non-conference thriller Tuesday at Lady Bear Field.Woodlawn survived a wild second inning that saw the Lady Bears give up five runs only to come back to tie the game in the bottom of the frame.Carlisle used three doubles, a single and a walk to plate five runs in the top of the second to jump out to a 5-0 lead.That advantage was short lived, however.Rauls led off the bottom of the second with a double, and one out later, Karsyn Chastain had another double that drove in the Lady Bears’ first run. After the next batter was retired for the second out, Anniston Wright had an RBI single, Maeley Simmons brought in a run with another double, and Jaci Hoyt followed with a two-run homerun to tie the game, 5-5.Woodlawn took its first lead in the third when Kaylee Misho had a two-out single that scored Rauls and Chastain to make it 7-5.The Lady Bison scored on an error in the fifth to make it 7-6, and then tied 7-7 it in the top of the seventh by adding another run off an error and a ground out.The Lady Bears answered in the bottom of the seventh when Kendall Tooke singled to start the frame and Molly Shelby  walked to put two aboard. Rauls then followed with her single that allowed Tooke to score off a fielding error.Despite winning by a single run, Woodlawn out-hit Carlisle 12-6. Rauls was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 while Simmons had two hits.Chastain was the starting pitcher for the Lady Bears. She gave up five hits and a walk over two innings. Rauls threw the final five innings, holding Carlisle to one hit and two walks while striking out eight.
