Donald "Don" W. Hunter, 86, of Warren, AR (Rye) peacefully entered his heavenly home on July 4, 2026.
Born on March 23, 1940, in Star City, Arkansas, Don was the son of the late Orie Hunter Sr. and Vera Dearman Hunter.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by faith, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors. He was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was always willing to step in as a Sunday School teacher. His love for the Lord and his church family was evident throughout his life.
After 28 years of dedicated service, Don retired from Bradley County Solid Waste. He took great pride in his work and was respected by those who worked alongside him. Those who knew Don knew that he was happiest outdoors. He was an avid deer and squirrel hunter and loved spending time fishing and camping, especially at one of his favorite places, Rising Star. Whether he was riding his four-wheeler, tending to his yard, or sharing stories with family and friends, Don found joy in life's simple pleasures. His strong work ethic, generous spirit, and love for his family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde Hunter, Dewey Hunter, Orie Hunter Jr., and Joe Hunter: and his sisters, Claudia Russo, Joyce Hilderbrand, and Diane Ashmore.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 63 years, Eloise Johns Hunter. He is also survived by his daughter, Paula Herring and husband Bradley; his son, David Hunter and wife Kim; seven grandchildren, Blake Herring and wife Ashley, Jagger Hunter, Krystal Peek and husband Roman, Heather Price and husband Brandon, Austin Burkhart, Dayton Burkhart, and Skylar Burkhart; and eight great-grandchildren, Braxton and Jolie Herring, Natalee Harmon, Caden, Kinsley, and Aubrey Price, and Ember and Eden Burkhart. Brothers Leonard Hunter and spouse Susan, John Hunter and spouse Debbie. Sister Shirley Cleveland.
Don's legacy is one of unwavering faith, dedication to family, and a love for God's creation. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him and is resting in the presence of his Savior.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Charles Wooley officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery at Rye, AR by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
