Rison’s new offensive weapons were on full display Friday night when the Wildcats used a dominating run game to put away the Class 4A DeWitt Dragons, 48-20, in the season opener at DeWitt. The Dragons struggled to contain Wildcat sophomore quarterback Logan McGarity, who finished with 215 yards rushing on 15 carries with four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Aidan Bitely, a senior move-in from White Hall, broke the century mark in rushing as well with 123 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. The Wildcats took a 14-0 lead in the opening period before the Dragons came back to tie it up. Kyson Walker scored in the second to regain the lead for Rison, and the ‘Cats pulled away from there.
