JACKS PRESENTED SHADOW BOX - Command Sgt. Major Steven Veazey (left) of the Arkansas National Guard presents Marcell Jacks (right), wife of the late Staff Sgt. Danny Jacks of the Rowell community, with a shadow box during the Cleveland County Veterans Appreciation Luncheon held this past Saturday at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison. Some of the proceeds from the luncheon are being used to establish a memorial in Danny Jacks’ honor at the Veterans Park in Rison. Jacks was an Army Ranger who was highly decorated for his combat service during the Vietnam War. He was inducted into the Army Ranger Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Ga., as well as the Arkansas Military Hall of Fame located in the State Capitol building in Little Rock.
LARGE CROWD FOR CLEVELAND COUNTY VETERANS APPRECIATION DINNER - Command Sgt. Major Steven C. John Blanchard and Rickey Fore of the Cleveland County Veterans Association, the group that puts on the dinner each year, said more than 300 meals of catfish and chicken were served, making it the largest crowd since the event began. Thanks to sponsorship from several local businesses, veterans and one guest were able to enjoy the meal at no cost as a token of appreciation for their service to the country.
