RISON - Carlese Johnson scored 15 points as the Rison Lady Wildcats rolled by the Maumelle Charter Lady Eagles, 53-37, Saturday at Maumelle.
Rison Coach Seth Taylor called it a good team win with some good bench play as the Lady ‘Cats broke a three-game skis with three consecutive victories to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Taylor noted that Rison’s leading scorer Destiny Lea was unable to play. He credited Johnson for stepping up to fill the void.
“We’re still kind of learning about ourselves,” Taylor said about where his team is right now. “We still have a lot of room for growth.”
Rison 44, Bismarck 25
Rison got off to quick start to build a big lead early as the Lady Wildcats cruised to a 44-25 blowout of the Bismarck Lady Lions in non-conference action on Nov. 29 at Bismarck.
Taylor said the Lady ‘Cats built a double-digit lead by the end of the opening frame, and never trailed by less than 10 the rest of the way. He said the Lady Lions managed to cut the lead to 10 in the third quarter as his bench was starting to see action, but the Lady ‘Cats quickly recovered to pull away in the fourth.
Destiny Lea had 18 points as Rison avenged last year’s 52-37 loss to Bismarck.
