RISON - New solar-power lighted stop signs were installed at the intersection of Main and Magnolia Streets in Rison on Monday. The signs feature a flashing ring of red lights along the outer border of the sign that is powered by a small solar panel mounted at the top of the sign. Mayor Charles Roberts informed the Rison City Council in November that the city would be taking down the flashing red light that had been at the intersection and replacing it with the flashing stop signs. Roberts said the flashing light had been hit several times and he felt the flashing stops signs would be a better option.
