Ladybugs Turn Back Lady 'Cats

RISON - After Rison came back from a three-run deficit to the tie the game, Fordyce used a double and a single to score a run in the fifth, and then used a couple of errors and a hit in the seventh to add one more as the Ladybugs got past the Lady Wildcats, 5-3, in their 8-2A conference opener Tuesday at Lady Wildcat Field. Fordyce grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI sacrifice bunt, and then added two more in the third off a walk and two singles to go up 30. Rison got on the board in the bottom of the third when a walk and back-to-back errors with two out loaded the bases, and then Rhagen Price singled to drive in two runs to make ti 3-2. The Lady 'Cats tied the game in the fourth when Josey Edwards and Carlese Johnson led off with singles before Breanna Taylor's bunt pushed a run across to make it 3-3. The Lady Bugs came back with their scores in the fifth and seventh to seal get the win. Price, Ewards and Johnson accounted for Lady Wildcats' three hits in the game. Edwards started inside the circl for Rison, giving up five hits and one walk with three strikeouts over six innings. Rison, which committed four errors in the game, fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league action with the loss. Rison 11, Hampton 3 HAMPTON - Jade Keaton and Layne Potter had three hits apiece as the Rison Lady Wildcats used a strong start to take control early before cruising to an 11-3 win overf the Hampton Bulldogs in the 2023 season opener Monday at Hampton. Keaton doubled in the Lady Wildcats' first at-bat of the year and follow-up single by Potter gave Rison a quick 1-0 lead.
