'Cats Knock Off Junction City, 15-7

JUNCTION CITY - After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Rison Wildcats battled back to take the lead in the third before pulling away for a 15-7 win over the Junction City Dragons in an 8-2A conference game Tuesday afternoon at Junction City. Rison improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the victory. The Dragons used a walk, two hit batters, two ground outs and an error to go up 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Rison answered with four runs in the second when Owen Morrison and Matthew Howard drew walks to start the frame before Ayden Laws singled in the Wildcats' first run. James Jacob followed with another hit to load the bases, and a ground out by Jared Saeler scored another run. Lawson Kidd then smashed a double into center that drove in Laws and Jud Terry's grounder brought home another run to make it 4-3 Rison. Junction City had an RBI single in the bottom of the second to tie it, 4-4, but the 'Cats grabbed the lead for good in the third when Morrison singled with one out, stole second and then scored on Howard's hit to make it 5-4 Wildcats. Rison added three more runs in the fourth when Kidd singled and Terry walked to start the inning before Brock Southerland's sacrifice bunt advanced both. An error allowed Kidd to score before Terry and Blaine Dixon stole home to push the Wildcats' lead to 8-4. The 'Cats put together a twoout rally in the sixth when an error, a walk and a double by Howard plated two more runs to make it 10-4. After the Dragons added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it a four-run deficit, Rison answered with a five-run seventh using a hit batter, an error, a single by Kidd, a walk, a double by Southerland and a sacrifice fly by Morrison to make it 15-6.
