RISON - Layne Potter had two doubles and drove in three runs as the Rison Lady Wildcats knocked off the Ouachita Lady Warriors, 6-2, in an 8-2A conference game Tuesday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Field.
An RBI single gave Ouachita a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before the Lady ‘Cats answered with a two-out double by Josey Edwards that scored Jade Keaton, who had singled.
Rison took the lead for good in the second with four runs.
After Amelia Stewart was hit by a pitch to start the inning, a single by Breanna Taylor and a hit batter loaded the bases with one out. Potter then doubled to left to bring in two runs and a follow-up single by Rhagen Price added two more as the Lady Wildcats went up 5-1.
Potter delivered another RBI double in the third to make it 6-1.
Ouachita had a solo homerun in the top of the seventh for its final run.
Rison improved to 2-4 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
The Lady Wildcats’ win threw the 8-2A conference standings into a free-for-all as six of the league’s seven teams are within a game of one another for second place in the conference.
Two teams (Ouachita and Gurdon) now have three losses while four teams (Rison, Fordyce, Parkers Chapel and Junction City) have four losses. Woodlawn leads the league with one loss at 6-1.

FORDYCE - Fordyce scored off an error with two out in the bottom of the seventh as the Ladybugs pulled out a 3-2 win over the Rison Lady Wildcats in an 8-2A clash last Friday at Fordyce.
After Fordyce scored on a sacrifice fly in the first inning for a 1-0 lead, Rison moved in front in the top of the fourth when Rhagen Price tripled with one out and then scored on an error. Josey Edwards then singled, and after the second out, Amelia Stewart drover her in with another hit to make it 2-1 Lady ‘Cats.
