Lady 'Cats Win 4x200; Nearly Get Another One

QUITMAN - The Rison Lady Wildcats' 4x200 meter relay team captured the state championship last Tuesday, May 2, at the Class 2A State Track Meet held at Quitman High School. The Rison 4x200 relay team of Shermyah Bracey, La'Drea Hamilton, Destiny Lea and Brianna Ferrell had a nearly 3 second lead over second place finisher Yellville-Summit. The Lady 'Cats clocked in at 1:51.55 compared to 1:54.44 for Yelleville-Summit. Rison's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of the same team members came within 1/10th of a second of beating Mansfield for a second relay title. Mansfield won the event with a time of 52.19 secs. while Rison was second at 52.29 secs. The Lady Wildcats' 4x400 relay team of Shermyah Bracey, Destiny Lea, Josie Farrer, and Rhagen Price was sixth in the state with a time of 4:45.58 In the individual events, Briana Ferrell, a sophomore, was fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.18 secs. In 400 meter dash, freshman Josie Farrer was ninth with a time of 1:08.46 while fellow freshman Rhagen Price followed in 10th with a time of 1:09.78. ...
