Sammie Barnett

Body

Sammie Barnett, 96, transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 24, 2023 surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Sammie was born to Sam and Emma Bradley Barnett in Rison, AR on October 12, 1926.

He was retired from Martin Bros. Gas Company, which is now known as Synergy Gas after 50-plus years of service. He did his best to accomplish anything that was asked of him, including working on gas heaters, gas lines, and water pipes, and airing the neighborhood children's bicycle tires.

Sammie knew no stranger and was known by adults and children in the community as Paw-Paw or Mr. Sam. He loved watching and attending sports events. He would always be there to support his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all of their events.

He accepted Christ as his savior and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

Sammie was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Barnett, parents, Sam and Emma Barnett, sisters, Vera Moses and Lillie Mackey, brothers, John, Ed, and Henry Barnett, and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Phillips.

He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: daughters, Gwendolyn Henry of Rison, AR, Sandra Barnett of Flint, Ml, Bridgette Barnett Lee of Dallas, TX and Stephanie White (Marvin) of Hot Springs, AR, and son Michael Sam Barnett (Teresa) of Rison, AR and 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, a nephew Jerry O'Neil of WA and a niece, Reeda Elerby of Pine Bluff, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
