Woodlawn Gives Report to Public

The Woodlawn School District presented its annual Report to the Public Monday night before the start of the regular monthly meeting of the Woodlawn School Board. Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock, High School Principal T.J. Hill and Elementary Principal Heather Cox all gave reports on their areas within the school district. The report included an overview of the district as a whole as well as reports on Woodlawn Elementary and Woodlawn High School. It also addressed safety upgrades across campus and facilities. Here is an overview of each section of the report: District Overview The Woodlawn School District is spending an average of $10,037.44 for each student in the district. The district has an average daily attendance of 92.32 percent of its enrollment with 50.84 percent of elementary students and 49 percent of high school students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Woodlawn Elementary graded a "C" on the last Arkansas Department of Education credit card while Woodlawn High School was graded a "B." The district is in good standing with the state's accreditation standards. Overall enrollment for the district was reported to be 577 students with 308 in grades kindergarten through 6th in the elementary school and 269 in grades 7th through 12th at the high school. The average classroom size was 18 students for the elementary and 15 for the high school. There are 14 fully licensed teachers and five teachers on waiver plans in the elementary school while there are 21 fully licensed teachers and four teachers on waivers in the high school. Twelve elementary teachers and 17 teachers in the high school have master's degrees while the average years of teaching experience is 11.32 years in the elementary and 16 years in the high school.
