Robert Wayne "Red" Blackstock, 91, of Pine Bluff, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Born October 15, 1932 at Kedron in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Eldridge Clarence Blackstock and Avis Rodgers Blackstock. He was a 1950 graduate of Rison High School where he played on the State Championship football team. He served as a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
For several years, he worked as a paint contractor. In 1964, he went to work for the Cotton Belt Railroad, retiring as a conductor in 2000 after 36 years of service.
For 42 years, Mr. Blackstock was a faithful member and deacon of Broadmoor Missionary Baptist Church. When the church closed, he joined Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He loved God's creation and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
On August 14, 1953, he married Florine Kelley Blackstock in Pine Bluff. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2019. Also predeceasing him are a son, David Lee Blackstock; a brother, Pat Blackstock; and a grandson, Mark Stafford.
Survivors include his children, G. W. "Jerry" Blackstock (Regina) of Gillett, Barbara Blackstock Harris (David) of Bryant, and Karen Blackstock Coleman (Brent) of Oak Point, TX; daughter-in-law, Cindy Blackstock of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Joel Blackstock of Pine Bluff and Paul J. Blackstock of Rison; his grandchildren, John Dial, Brad Dial (Lydia), Joshua Blackstock (Katie), Jesse Blackstock (Abby), Richard Stafford (Marianne), Chelsea Johnson (Parker), and April Harris; and his greatgrandchildren, Riley Rose Blackstock, Rhett Johnson, James Dial, Logan Stafford, Madalynn Stafford, and Mason Stafford.
Funeral service was Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Fuller HaleSouth Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Harris officiating, Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
