White, Manes Lead Jr. Bears To 46-14 Win Over Marvell

WOODLAWN - Ethan White rushed for 148 yards on just six carries and Lucas Manes had two touchdowns on 92 yards rushing as the Woodlawn Junior Bears blew out the Marvell-Elaine Junior Mustangs, 46-14, last Friday at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. The win ended a four-game losing streak by the Junior Bears and was Woodalwn's first win in South Conference play. The Junior Bears are 1-4 in league play and 3-4 overall. Woodlawn dominated the first half, jumping out to a 40-0 lead near the midpoint of the second half, invoking a running clock for the rest of the game. Marvell struggled to bring down White as the fullback powered through the Junior Mustangs for 37 yards on the first three plays of the game. Manes took over from there, breaking off a 24-yard run before scoring from five yards out on the next snap. Parker Arnold's two-point conversion made it 8-0. The Mustangs fumbled it away at their 35 on the ensuing series, and three plays later, Manes scored on an eight-yard run. Colton Simmons ran in the conversion to make 16-0. After forcing Marvell to punt, Arnold went 39 yards for another score and White powered in for the two-point attempt to make 24-0 with 50 seconds left in the first quarter. White had an 89-yard touchdown run on Woodlawn's first play of the second quarter, and Jacks passed to Miles West for the conversion to make it 32-0. After the Junior Bears recovered an onside kick, Manes ripped off a 55-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 40-0 after Arnold ran in the two-pointer with 3:48 left before half. Game officials began running clock at that point. Marvell scored on a 43-yard run against Woodlawn's 7th graders in the third quarter before Jarnold returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards for a touchdown.
