RISON - Ouachita sophomore Brea Biley proved to be too much for the Rison Lady Wildcats to overcome last Friday as she led the Lady Warriors to a 65-41 victory in an 8-2A conference match-up inside the Rison Gym.
Biley and her teammate, Camelia Ashford, combined for 15 points in the first quarter as Ouachita jumped out to a 20-12 lead. The Lady Warrriors pushed it to a 31-20 lead at the break.
After scoring 14 points in the first quarter, Biley added to more in the third as Ouachita extended its advantage to 46-31 by the start of the fourth quarter.
Layne Potter led the Lady ‘Cats in scoring with 13, all coming in the first half. Destiny Lea followed with 11.
Rison fell to 12-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Rison 59, Junction City 37
JUNCTION CITY - Destiny Lea scored 19 points as the Rison Lady Wildcats rebounded from a two-week layoff due to winter storm with a solid 59-37 victory over the Junction City Lady Dragons in 8-2A conference action last Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Junction City.
Rison was clinging to a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter when the Lady ‘Cats drained three 3-pointers to outscore the Lady Dragons, 19-6, to take a comfortable 31-17 cushion in the half. Lea, Layne Potter and Chamira Crain all connected from beyond the arch in the second quarter.
The Lady Wildcats finished strong as well by winning the fourth quarter, 17-7, after making 5-of-8 free throws in the period. Rison was 18-of-29 for the game.
