Kyson Walker's 23 Spurs Rison Blowout of Gurdon

WOODLAWN - Freshman Kyson Walker scored 23 points as the Rison Wildcats shook off an early deficit to blow out the Gurdon Go Devils, 64-38, in the first round of the 8-2A District Tournament Monday night at Woodlawn. Rison, the no. 7 seed in the tournament, led for much of the first quarter before a late 3 by Gurdon gave the sixth-seeded Go Devils an 11-10 lead at the end of the opening frame. The Wildcats surged in front in the second quarter on the strength of 3-pointers by Za'Kyler Walker and James Mitchell. Rison was in front 2921 at halftime. The 'Cats began pulling away from there as Kyson Walker scored 11 points in the third quarter to extend Rison's lead to 45-30 by the start of the fourth. Rison continued to stretch its advantage in the fourth before finally settling for the 26-point victory.
