Lady 'Cats Pound Glen Rose, 17-6

RISON - Three Lady Wildcats finished with three hits apiece Tuesday as Rison hammered the Glen Rose Lady Beavers, 17-6, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Field.Glen Rose took advantage of an error and double in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead before Rison stormed back with six runs in the bottom of the second.After a walk to start the inning, Carlese Johnson hit a homerun to tie the game 2-2. The next three batters walked to load the bases with Amelia Stewart stealing home and MacKenzie King scoring a passed ball. With two out, Josey Edwards and Carlie Crain had back-to-back singles to drive in two more runs as the Lady 'Cats took a 6-2 lead.The Lady Beavers scored a run in the top of the third before Rison blew the game open with eight mores runs in the bottom of the frame.King, Haven Simpson and Layne Potter all had hits after the lead-off batter lined out. Potter's single drove in one run and a walk to Rhagen Price reloaded the bases. Breanna Taylor's fly ball for the second out allowed Simpson to tag up for a score. Edwards then singled to drive in one more run and Crain then walked. Johnson and Amelia Stewart then followed with back-to-back two-run singles before King had a triple to scored one more to make it 14-3 Rison.Glen Rose did score three runs in the fourth before Taylor's ground out in the bottom of the frame scored Potter, giving the Lady 'Catas a 15-6 lead.Rison was able to invoke the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth when Victoria James singled with bases loaded to make it a 17-6 final.The Lady Wildcats had 16 hits.Potter, Edwards and Johnson all had three hits apiece with Johnson delivering four RBIs. Stewart and King both finished with two hits each. Crain, Simpson and James also had hits.Johnson pitched all five innings for Rison. She scattered eight hits, walked one and had two strikeouts.Rison improved to 6-4 overall with the win....
