Lady Bears Beat Gurdon; Fall to Taylor

GURDON - Lillie Faye McWhorter struck out 11 and allowed just two hits as the Woodlawn Lady Bears blanked the Gurdon Lady Go Devils, 10-0, in an 8-2A conference game Monday afternoon at Lady Bear Field.The game remained scoreless until the Lady Bears put up seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.McWhorter drew a walk to start the inning before Madi West reached on an error. After a pop up for the first out, Kendall Tooke doubled to score a run and Lily White followed with another double that ended up plating three runs after White scored on an error.The next two batters also reached on errors before Kathyrn Dixon’s ground out brought in a run to make it 6-0. Jaci Hoyt followed with a double and then eventually scored on an error pushing Woodlawn’s lead to 7-0.The Lady Bears invoked the 10-run rule with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tooke and Erin West both singled before Dixon’s hit scored one run and Hoyt’s double drove in two more to make it 10-0.Woodlawn had four doubles with two of those coming from Hoyt. Tooke and White had the other two.
