David Guffy, Sr.

David D. Guffy, Sr, 80, of Rison, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2022, at Arkansas Hospice within St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born March 5, 1942, in Hailey, Idaho to James Guffy, Sr and Mazie Rodgers. David was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. He retired from Weyerhaeuser Corporation serving 40-plus years and over 1 million miles flown around the world. After retirement, he became the caregiver to the historic Temperance Chapel Cemetery in Rison. David was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and working on anything he could set a tool to. He was a Freemason and member of the former Culpepper Lodge #186. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years Mary Virginia Guffy; children David Guffy, Jr., Lisa Hoover Couch, Bryan Hoover; brothers, Paul Davis, J.M. Guffy, Howard Guffey, and Adam Burchett; sister, Eva Lou Burchett; and his precious cats Soxy and Big Kitty. Survivors include his daughter Konnie (Damon) Martin of Alamosa, Colorado; a sister, Joyce Rhodes of Sheridan; grandchildren, Emily (Blake) Barnes of White Hall, William (Cheyenne) Guffy of Sheridan, Lauren (Kyle) Masterson of Colorado, Tanner (Jayme) Martin of Colorado, Bryan (Amanda) Hoover of Alabama, Karla Hoover of Florida, and Benjamin Couch of Georgia; great-grandchildren Lawson, Greenlee, and Lane Barnes, Gentry Masterson, Rayden and Elyjah Hoover, and Guffy twins arriving spring 2023. Also, special friend Carolyn Earnest along with a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Buie Funeral Home of Rison. Private family interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Buie Funeral Home in Rison on frm 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdasy, October 12, 2022.
