David Stover

Body

David Lynn Stover, 73, of Woodlawn, was a faithful Christian who loved his family and loved serving his pharmacy customers and community through Woodlawn School athletics, his church, and other activities.

He passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at home.

David was born on August 20, 1952, in Woodlawn, son of Elbert and Alice Marie Cash Stover.

He was reared and received his early education in Woodlawn, graduating from Woodlawn High School in 1970. David attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he played basketball for one year, baseball for four years and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He still currently holds pitching records at UAM, and in 2014 he was inducted into the UAM Sports Hall of Fame. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana Monroe).

David moved back to Woodlawn after college and began working for Drug Mart in Pine Bluff in 1983. He bought the pharmacy in 1994 and renamed it The Drug Room. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and serving his customers at the pharmacy. He loved going on medical mission trips to Honduras where he was not only able to meet and treat the local people with medication in the mission pharmacy but was also able to share the Gospel and his love for Christ.

He taught Sunday School for over 30 years, worked with the youth at church, and sang in the church choir at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

David was very involved with his children and grandchildren in the Woodlawn community. He coached youth baseball for over 40 years, including American Legion and Jr. Babe Ruth teams in Pine Bluff and Little League in Woodlawn. He served on the Woodlawn School Board for over 30 years and was instrumental in many Woodlawn School building projects. He was an avid supporter in Woodlawn academic and athletic programs.

He also enjoyed raising beefmaster cattle and working on the family farm. In the fall, you’d find him hunting with his brothers, son, or grandchildren. Throughout the years, he traveled with his family on numerous hunting trips. If he wasn’t working outside on the farm, you’d often find him at a ballgame.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara June Mashburn Stover, whom he married June 2, 1972, in Monticello; his daughter, Allison Stover Lambert; sister, Margie Allred; and two brothers, Lee Stover and Jimmy Stover.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Rachelle Stover Hargis (Brian) of Woodlawn; son, Brian David Stover (Chelsea) of Woodlawn; brother, Jerry Don Stover; and four grandchildren, Chloe Hargis, Cash Hargis, Parker Lambert, and Josey Lambert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Dubs Byers officiating. Interment will follow in Rowell Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 5990 Highway 63, Rison, AR 71665.
