Hilda Scroggins

Hilda Gene Yarbrough Scroggins, 84, of Rison, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was born December 19, 1938 in Humphrey to Lester and Doris Stewart Yarbrough. Hilda was reared and educated in Humphrey schools. She was a homemaker and also owned and operated a farm as well as the H & H Package Store in Rison starting in 1978. Hilda enjoyed hunting, pottery, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and putting puzzles together. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herbert Scroggins, whom she married November 9, 1954 in Humphrey and who passed away August 12, 2016; brothers, Alvin Yarbrough, Hallis Yarbrough and Jimmy Yarbrough; sister, Donna Coker; granddaughter, Candy Scroggins; and son-in-law, Willie Bumpas. Survivors include two sons, Henry Scroggins (Barbara) and Jerry Scroggins (Carla), both of Rison; two daughters, Terry Gibson of Rison and Connie Bumpas of Woodlawn; grandchildren, Holly and Patrick Mayfield, James “Dood” Paxton, II, Krystal Bumpas, Frances Clark and Travis McDaniel, Logan and Nathan Sisson, Pat and Shelby Gibson, IV, Willie Bumpas, III and Jerry “Ty” Scroggins, II; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Mayfield, Aaron Mayfield, Ayden Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Zaiden Smith Rowdy Gibson, V Anna Clark, Charlie Sisson and Oakland Gibson; and sister-in-law, Peggy Yarbrough. Funeral service was Monday, July 17, 2023 at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church near Humphrey. Burial followed in Frazier Cemetery near Humphrey.
